I want you all to have a flangetastic viewing experience here on Yazmin TV but while we try to make sure everything goes out in formats that play smoothly I cant come round to all of your houses and tune up your computers. So here are a few tips to help you to get the best from a live show or from the YazPlayer. Unfortunately this advice is all PC related if anyone would like to write this up for a Mac I would be very grateful.
The live show is broadcast through a streaming server in the USA this is to stop the show breaking up as more people log on. On the other hand the YazPlayer comes from a server in France
|
Before a live show restart your computer and make sure you have nothing else running. Those of you with super fast broadband should have no difficulty receiving the show. The tips bellow will help you to get the best live show and YazPlayer experience if you have a slower internet connection.

Create More Resources
Receiving the Live or pre-recorded video requires that you have the proper amount of space needed to load the video temporarily. The video will be loaded in to your Web Cache. If this area is full, the video will be slow streaming. The web cache is the area that your browser uses to keep a temporary track of pages you have visited unfortunately it also slows things down. |
To clear the web cache.
1. Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser
2. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options.
3. On the General tab, click Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files.
4. In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the Delete all offline content check box , and then click OK.
5. Click OK. |

Disable Hardware Acceleration..
Now don't panic at the title. This setting is a bit of a hangover from the past .Hardware acceleration can cause choppy video playback, application crashes and slow streaming video problems. This occurs because the option forces all video players to conform to one setting. By disabling this option, the individual player can set its self based on the requirements of the file.
|
Disable Hardware Acceleration by using these steps:
1.Click on Start
2.Click Control Panel and Click Display
3.Select the Settings tab and click on the Advanced.
4.Click on the Troubleshoot tab.
5.Disable the hardware acceleration completely by dragging the slider to the extreme left.
In Vista
1. Click Start
2. Click Control Panel, choose Appearance and Personalization, click Personalization, click Display Settings, and then click Advanced Settings.
3.Under the Troubleshoot tab, and then click Change Settings. |
|
Eliminate Long Load Times and Excessive Buffering
Most players will allow you to alter their buffer settings. Below is how to change buffer setting in Media Player. If the sound is ok but the picture is freezing try a setting of 10, 15 or 20 seconds. |
1.Start Windows Media Player
2.Click the View
3.Click Options
4.On the Advanced tab, click Streaming Media(Windows Media)
5.Click Change to alter the buffer settings. |
|
Increase Virtual Memory
You can change your virtual memory by altering the amount of free resources for your computer to use, in a sense making the spare bucket bigger. Virtual memory uses free space as a resource. So you can change the the amount free space reserved for the Virtual memory.
Depending on how much free space you have you can choose what that amount of free space you want. |
1.Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2.Click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
3.On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
4.Under Virtual memory, click Change.
5.Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file that you want to change. In most computers its C:
6.Under Paging file Size for selected drive, click to Custom size check box. You can enter the amount of memory you would like to reserve for Virtual memory by entering the initial and maximum size.
7.Click Set
Tip: Keep the initial and maximum size the same to cut down on your CPU access. This will stop your CPU from constantly change your Virtual memory paging size. Also set the size 1.5 times higher than your physical memory. |

If all else fails
Cleaning your registry can have a significant effect on the speed of your computer. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events has a key. That key needs your PC's resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it. A suitable registry cleaner is Registry Mechanic from PC Tools unfortunatly it will cost you £30 but you can use it on three computers and you might be surprised at how it perks up your hard drive.
